Statement of Intent !
Beginning with the printed media of which is my focused part of the project. I plan to produce the first two pages of a newspaper. This will involve using Adobe In design software, to create the template and design of my newspaper, and Photoshop to create the contents of my newspaper such as; the name, advertisements, pictures, headlines and headings of the paper.
Taken into account the complexity of designing and creating a good, well informative newspaper, I have time scaled the completion of this product for 8 weeks.
For the second piece of my print media I propose to produce a poster using the same software in advertisement of the newspaper. For this I wish to set a smaller time scale of two weeks for completion, for the reason that it is a significantly simpler piece in my project and should take less time to manufacture.
Following this I intend to produce my digital media which will be to create a website that will include two hyperlinked pages and of which will be established using Microsoft Publisher and Adobe Photoshop. I am estimating this to take me around 8 weeks to complete for the reason that it involves heavy detailing and accuracy.
(Along side this I will construct a questionnaire once all of the proposed media has been completed which will be in aid of whether or not the Newspaper will likely to be a success or not.)
I propose that my newspaper will be targeted at teenagers/young adults, ranging from 16 – 22 year olds. For the core reason that since I am personally at the heart of this age group, I feel that I am more able to identify and construct a newspaper that people my age would be interested in and want to read about. As well as have a more enhanced knowledge and understanding about how my targeted audience would like the newspaper to be displayed and created whilst in recognition of being biased or generalised about topics in consideration.
Throughout producing my project proposal, my ideas for what I wish for my overall newspaper ought to be like will differ throughout the stages of development.
Moreover because of this I feel that my product will differentiate from existing products because I will have considered fragments from a diversity of different newspapers and magazines whilst carrying out my research to hold them as ideas for my fabrication and therefore reinforcing uniqueness and a sense of individuality.

The Name and Design!
Over the first week i came up with some names that i could name my newspaper.
- Southend Music Shiz
- Choooone
- Whoo or WHO?
- SoundWave
After much consideration i chose to use WHO? as the final name for my newspaper. This was because since it was a question as well as a name, i thought that the meaning behind it was quite alluring and mysterious, which would get people interested at first sight so for them to want to pick it up.
These are some of my sketches of initial ideas for my chosen name and design for the newspaper.

From these rough ideas i then went on to developing them further in Photoshop!
After much consideration with colour and font styles etc, i came up with a design that i personally thought was very eye catchy, modern, and friendly but at the same time simple with a tint of sophistication and spurts of vibrant colour for attraction!

Ideas for Potential Newspaper Templates

Their target audience is based on the older generation.
The layout contains an interesting, big illustration which is appealing to the eye and the headline grabs my attention. However the By line and the colour sceme used is quite dim, the colours arnt very bright which i feel lacks a sense of flavour, though no doubt does draw in my attention.
National Newspapers

The Daily Mirror has both tabloid and magazine characteristics.
and i find it is the most eye catchy front page that i have researched so far.
I like how the Bright red used for the top part of the newspaper emphasises the tital as well as creating attention to the competition advert. Whilst the contrasting black and white on the bottom half of the page gives the paper that little bit more appeal, as well as complimenting the illustration nicely.
However it's downfall is that it isn't very informative and does'nt give a great deal of insight as to what else the newspaper contains.
The Scottish Paper conveys a more modern look about itself. It has appeal immediately from the diversity of colours applied, as well as
cleverly using the largest font on the headl
ine which brings interest to potential readers. The only negative point from this front page is that i feel it does'nt contain very much text as the headline takes up most of the page. However saying this
From researching local and national nawspapers, i have learnt that the colour scheme is very important in order to attract the right target market and by looking at these papers in particular has enabled we with ideas to use bright and contrasting colours since i think that this is what my target audience would be attracted towards.
Not only this but looking at different kinds of newspapers with different target audiences has also provided me into making sure i take in much consideration towards the font sizes and styles i should use to create the right attention to each part of the paper as well as producing a layout design that has a good amount of text and information and also appropriate advertisments that would be accurate for my target audinces interest.
